Caw Caw
I'm not so close with my dad, however there is a story he used to tell me that I've always remembered. It's about a painter who was commissioned by some rich dude. Said rich dude paid the painter a fortune to hire him for a year, expecting many-a-masterpiece.
He leaves and returns a year later and asks the painter for what he paid for. The painter proceeds to give rich dude a single painting of a crow. This painting of the crow was magnificent and flawless, however it was just a single painting. Angry, the rich dude yells at the painter, telling him he expected a huge stock of paintings. To which the painter replied - "This painting is the product of months of dedication and hard work. If quantity is what you want, take these."
The painter shows the rich dude a huge pile of paintings in his home. Hundreds, all of which are of the same crow, yet all raw, unrefined or incomplete. Over the year he toiled away on a single image and perfected it.
This ain't my crow, but I've finally drawn what I feel is my version of Spider-Man.

Blaaaarg!!!
Yah, so it took me yet another six months or so before I actually posted something new on this blog of mine. Some stuff has changed, news of potential uncle-ship, fun times with good friends...I do feel lucky.
Of course, there still feels like some thing is off. The main thing is that I haven't done a lick of art in awhile. I feel like I'm losing touch with a part of me that has been very important to me since as long as I can remember. It makes me wonder how big a part it really was, like is it all in my head? Do I need to be labeled a dreamer, but not the cool kind that conjures up actual ideas. One that likes to posture and make the motions that seem right. I wonder if it's any better to be a dried up riverbed. Did anyone ever sail?
I don't want to become a silhouette.
