Deuce!
This Saturday (June 23rd, 2007) I'll be participating in the first annual Wiimbledon. It's a Wii Tennis tournament which will be held at a neat old-school gaming themed drinkery, Barcade- located in scenic Brooklyn.
I'll bring my digicam and take as many embarassing photos as I can. Feel free to come cheer me on...the 2 people that actually read this blog.

Maybe it was atrophy?
I did some drawings, was kind of happy and couldn't wait to scan them in. I dusted off my scanner and plugged the sucker in and then...nothing. The darn thing isn't working. I'm not quite sure what it is, but I tried plugging it in several USB slots with no avail.
I'm not giving up on it yet. It's a special scanner both because it has a extra large scanning bed (for those real big comic book pages) but it was also the scanner I used for my first real complete comic. I think it's the power supply, so I'm going to head to Radio Shack and pick up a new one. If that doesn't work, then it's off to scanner heaven where it can scan the works of Van Gogh and help God Photoshop that real funny baby photo of Jesus.

Return to the Planet Me
It's been almost 2 years. My comment box is full of un-warranted spam, hardly a soul has had any reason to visit my blog and various other life changes have befelled me (is befelled a word, befallen?).
Well, I've got my second wind. Let's see what comes of it.

Best laid plans...
Whom ever made that observation about mice and men must've known from first hand experience. Looking at all those men and mice passing him by, I guess he might've ended up in some alley at one point in his life. Did a quick Google search and it looks like some dude named Robert Burns came up with it.
People often strive for stability and equillibrium, but the funny thing is that these things occur in nature over a long period of time. What may seem like a hectic, random series of occurences often becomes a clear pattern when you step away from things. Is it better to head down a path with a clear end or go someplace unfamiliar? Over the long run everything works out. I could die in that unfamiliar path, but I would've died anyway just maybe a few decades sooner.
But regrets burn forever. Must only people with nothing to lose be the ones to try and have everything to gain? I guess it's true what people say, live each day as if it's your last.
Time makes a fool of us all, no?

Come Together ...Right Now...Over Me
Thanks to my buddy Tom, I finally am able to post some permanent links. You can find them on the right side, so far there's only two. But I'm sure once I'm done with this post I'll add a whole slew of random links.
I'll do my best to introduce you to any link as I add them. Let's start with the two I have now:
Trebsworld - That blog belongs to my buddy Tom. Really cool guy (talented too) and he actually puts photos in his posts. *jealous* We used to work together and I still miss his random appearances (he was a part-timer so I never could get used to when he'd pop in, morning, afternoon...). We worked on a little animation thing once, I did the character designs. Hmm...I wonder if he'd let me post it here.
Elise in Paris - That's my friend in Paris who I mentioned previously. Elise and I were friends while she was in NY. Her blog just started so give her some time before it gets as entertaining as my rocking blog (that was a joke). In the meantime you can take a look at her Halloween picture she has posted there. (She went as E-Lo...get it J-Lo...so if you're wondering if that's her real butt in the photo...well I don't know. You'll have to ask her *if it is, good job Elise haha*)
Well that's the introduction of the new links in my Spicy little world.

I Like Chocolate Milk...
It's true too, I love it. I'm 27 and I still drink it when I get a chance. Although I have been drinking chocolate soy milk recently. Now now, don't cringe. The stuff taste like chocolate ice cream.
Anywho...I've been contributing more often to the manga message board I mentioned a few months ago. It feels good giving my thoughts on people's drawings and my suggestions on how to do things. I'm by no means an expert, not even published yet, but it makes me feel like my practices have some merit. Plus the message board has taught me a lot too, a lot of talented talented people on there.
Man I need to get more photos on this blog...

Le déjeuner épicé
Nothing much to write about today, although I did find out a friend of mine has started her own blog. She recently moved to France where apparently Asian cuties are hot commodities.
I just left her an encouraging reply to her first blog post, so I guess I shouldn't forget about my own website. Once I figure out how to make a link on this thing I'll post a link to her blog.

I Sing the Body Electric...
The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated...'cause nobody is actually talking about this place. Haha...
Who cares, right? Well I think I'm coming back to post now. For my faithful 3 fans, new Spicy Ramblings are here. I might even do a podcast! (of course, that's until I actually hear my voice and be all like "ewww")

Go paint that wall with this toothbrush
More and more I'm realizing just how much empty space I have laying around in this here website. I guess I appreciate that I now have some sort of platform or precense here on the web, but I'm not sure what to do with it.
Originally coming in to this I liked the whole 'free-range' feeling of this blog. However recently I've been slightly annoyed by the lack of structure. It's the opposite of my desk, which is full of old magazines, comic books and drawings. I have nothing in this case, but it begs the same thing...order.
This weekend I'm gonna try to set up some sections and categories. Perhaps I'll even put up some new artwork. Oh yah, and I think I'll look into seeing how I can get people to come here in the first place.
Maybe all this will help me shake off my funk. I've been in one for a little over a week now. My mind has begun to have negative thoughts like I did in college. I used to be so depressed and lost, but I've shaken that off for a few years now. I think I'm just being stifled.
Well time for bed.

But I remember to feed the dog...
Man, I've disappointed my loyal readers by missing both Saturday and Sunday. I hope all 2 of you can forgive me. Often times I'll just check spicylunch.com and be amazed that I actually have a website. Then I get angry that nobody has updated it yet...then I remember "Oh yeah, that's my job." 'Doi.
I posted my comic on a message board the same day I posted it here. I got a lot of wonderful advice from people there and wanted to give them another thanks on my website. I don't hang out with enough artist types, so it's hard for me to get artistic advice. So when I do get it, I really appreciate it. If anyone is curious, here's the board, Psuedome Forums. My comic is posted in the Tokyopop Rising Star Critique Center.
Incidentaly, that board is on the website and run by the people who won 1st place in the 1st Tokyopop contest.

They should've sent a poet
Yesterday was such a crappy day in NYC. After about a week of decent weather, we got hit with some odd wintry slurry of rain, sleet, snow and wind. I wish I knew more adjectives and clever ways to describe the disarray. Oh well, I'll get a digital camera someday soon and then everyone will be happy.
Was depressed yesterday, 'cause of the rain and other factors. However was perked up when I heard from a friend who had been going through family issues but is thankfully doing better.
Today, I'm determined to post this comic I drew. So by tonight it should be up, as well as the sad story behind it. Alas, it's a losing entry in a comic book contest. But it's good enough to post here!
Heck, it's mah blog, I'll do whatevers I's like....

So, what is spicylunch.com?
Very good question. I spent sometime thinking about what to write here. At first I was going to be all ",These are the rules of spicylunch.com..."
...all Fight Club....
Truth is I have no idea what it'll be, so I can't say what it's not and can't be. Alls I know is most of my posts will be written pretty much as they are in my mind. So you're getting a pure feed, untouched by the conveniences of grammar checkings, drafts and the sort.
So as time goes by, I'll gauge how comfortable I am in sharing the goings-on of my personal life and see how anonymous I want to be. But here's what I want people to know about me (right now at least):
- I love to draw & tell stories (and I will be showcasing comics here)
- I'm interested in other cultures & languages (especially food from other countries)
- I wear my heart on my sleeve (so if you see it on the ground, kindly don't step on it)
So whom ever is reading, you probably know me directly since I'm telling you to visit this bloggish thing. Well I think I smell my Shake n' Baked chicken burning, so I better just end this post. Um...ciao? (is that how you're supposed to end these things?)

Is this thing on?
Um, hello? I finally got this blog thing working and put some use to my website (after 4 months of having the darn thing). Expect more interesting stuff later...to whoever is reading this...
